Unitarian Church, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 1

Dublin Youth Choir and Dublin Youth Chamber Choir present a spring concert featuring music that celebrates freedom, music that calls for freedom, and music that explores what it means to be free.

Based in the heart of Dublin's city centre, Dublin Youth Choir was founded in 2017 with the aim of providing a structure of incremental choral music education for the young singers of Dublin and to provide the opportunity to develop musicianship, ensemble-singing skills, and vocal technique with accomplished tutors on a weekly basis. It is hoped that this regional opportunity will provide the most enthusiastic choral singers with more opportunities to further develop their skills, in addition to the great work that is being done in schools throughout Dublin. DYC consists of six choirs: Junior Choir (for Second Class pupils), Training Choir (10-14 year olds), Youth Choir (14-18 year olds), Chamber Choir (14-20 year olds), Male Voice Choir, and Cross Border Youth Choir (with the Belfast Philharmonic Youth Chamber Choir).

Dublin Youth Chamber Choir will represent Ireland at the European Choral Games in Gothenburg, Sweden, in August 2019. Chamber Choir has already had considerable success since its formation in January 2017. In their first year together, the choir won Best Youth Choir in the RTÉ Lyric FM Choirs for Christmas competition in December 2017. 2018 was an exciting year for Dublin Youth Chamber Choir, which included two guest performances in the National Concert Hall, a concert in the National Gallery of Ireland for Culture Night, a recording project for the Royal Albert Hall, a performance in Christchurch Cathedral, and a joint concert with the Holy Heart Choir from Newfoundland. Dublin Youth Chamber Choir collaborates with the Belfast Philharmonic Youth Chamber Choir as the Cross Border Youth Choir. As one half of this choir, Chamber Choir won the Youth Choir competition of the City of Derry International Choral Festival in October 2018 and was named Best Youth Choir in the RTÉ Lyric FM Choirs for Christmas competition in December 2018.
